The proposed store opening times will be 8am until 10pm Monday to Saturday and 6h on a Sunday
How long though before they apply for an extension to these opening hours?
"Asda have over 300 stores, half of which are open 24 hours a day" - Daily Mail (2nd February 2007)
Delivery Hours
What we do know though is that 'Our Friendly Neighbour' will push and push to extend their delivery hours. Asda and Sainsbury are both members of the Freight Transport Association and lobby hard for no restrictions on 24-hour lorry deliveries, no restrictions on weight or size, and no restrictions on speed limits on lorries.
And the proof:
Planning application by Asda in Stevenage
04/00370/FP - To....permit deliveries between 0700 - 1900 weekdays and Saturdays and 0700 - 1300 on Sundays and bank holidays - Approved
05/00330/FP - To....permit up to five deliveries outside the hours of 0700 - 1900 weekdays and Saturdays and 0700 - 1300 Sundays and bank holidays - Withdrawn
06/00177/FP - To....permit deliveries from 0500 to 2100 weekdays and Saturdays and 0700 to 1500 Sundays and Bank Holidays - Rejected
The same in Biggleswade - Oh and it is Tom McGarry who is driving this one through!!
